Ratings

Legatum Prosperity Index

A non-traditional look at a nation's prosperity based one more than per capita GDP.  It attempts to rate relative joy of living and the prospect for building a better life.

Heritage Index of Economic Freedom

Analyses virtually all the countries in the world, looking at the factors that control the economic freedom of their citizens, such as tax and regulatory burden, availability of capital, etc.

Economic Freedom of the World Index

From the Fraser Institute:  A free and prosperous world through choice, markets and responsibility.  The main page is Free the World.  The Executive Summary lists the many positive benefits of economic freedom, including much higher average income, life expectancy and political and civil liberties. 

Cato Institute provides an interactive map to the information in the Economic Freedom of the World Index.  You can see the entire report here, 2013 Annual Report, with chapter 1: Economic Freedom, providing a chart of the results for 141 countries on page 8.
